Saint Felix came from what is now known as Burgundy. He was born at the end of the sixth century, and as a monk he befriended the exiled Prince Sigebert of East Anglia, whom he converted to the Christian faith. When Sigebert was able to return to East Anglia, and became King, he sent for Felix to preach to his pagan countrymen. Calling first at Canterbury, he sailed into the Wash and down the Babingley River, landing less than a mile from the Orthodox Church of St Felix. This was in about 630 AD. He later established his episcopal See at Dunwich which was lost to coastal erosion over the past centuries.
His feast day is the 8th March and anyone interested in celebrating the feast of the patron of our British Orthodox Church at Babingley is warmly welcome to join us on both Saturday and Sunday.
